Mission SD and Cabrillo Nat'l Monument

October 28, 2012
El Toro, CA

I’ve been home a week now and have been busy doing nothing J.  Ahhh, it is so good to just relax and help out with a few things around the house.

But today it's off to San Diego to visit the last of the SCMA’s California Adventure of visiting 24 NP’s.

Needless to say the ride was a quick one, only 80 miles to Cabrillo Nat’l Monument, 15 to Mission San Diego de Alcala, and 80 back home.  175 mile trip; with the necessary stops it took about 5 hours.

At Cabrillo photos were taken Ranger David (SCMA Member) in his booth.

Then a photo with Volunteer Elke from Germany.

Outside Snoopy viewed Naval Air Station North Island, a field where years ago I did a number of touch and go’s as well as where I flew a CH-46 Marine Helicopter to North Carolina….’twas a nice long trip
J.

And then a young Marine and his sweetheart got a
photo with the Snoop!
And finally a photo of me outside the place with Snoopy and Sophia.

This completes the CA Adventure!  Yaayy!!  Another event completed!

From here it was a quick jaunt over to Mission San Diego and got a photo of Snoopy with Volunteer Rosalie in the Gift Shop.

And finally, a photo of me outside the mission similar to the photo the Passport book has.  Only two Missions remaining to visit to complete the SCMA CA Missions Tour.

The ride back was nice, comfortable weather (duhh, it’s California), not much traffic, and fresh Pacific breezes.

Back home I parked Sophia in the garage and Son-in-Law had a cold one waiting for me!
Ahhhh, retired life is good J.
