Looking Upon Austin

November 7, 2011
Austin TX

Today was Harley’s birthday, and Zach had to go to work.  So Harley and I worked out, had some breakfast then picked up Melissa and IO and headed out for some sightseeing.
Melissa really knows her way around the greater Austin area so she first took us to Mount Bonnell to view Lake Austin and the City of Austin.  The mount is around 800 ft above mean sea level and does indeed have a nice view to both…..here’s some pics below.

After Mt Bonnell we went to the Oasis restaurant that overlooks Lake Travis…wow, is this place amazing!  Sculptures, paintings, antiques, gift shops, food and views.  It is build on the side of a cliff, has had extensive additions, and practically every table has a view to the lake and country side.  A very nice visit and a chance to enjoy a Maker’s Mark bourbon while enjoying chips and salsa.

And the final treat was meeting Zach for a movie at the Alamo Theaters to have a dinner and a brew while watching the movie “In Time” a Robin Hood, Bonnie & Clyde, Patty Hearst type fantasy in the future. A very original concept loaded with action and romance….and an excellent twist on the economic value of being alive…..and when its time to die.  Ya’ll gotta see it.
            Time’s up….
